Hey, Nobody in Particular…
I hope you and yours had a wonderful weekend. You might be surprised to be reading this latest letter at the outset of your week, but I wanted to write one even if I knew it was going to be late. There are two reasons for this:
I’d rather be consistent in trying to write you a letter each and every week, even if I can’t find the time to publish it on Saturday mornings.
My friend Alex (a.k.a NFT God) has a new “30 Minute Atomic Essay” challenge currently happening in the 1 Percent Better Club where we have been asked to write for 30 straight minutes on any given topic, and this letter is an attempt to do that while catching up on my missives to you, Nobody in Particular.
So just like it is never too late for me to send you that weekly letter, it’s never too late to do just about anything in your life that could radically transform the way you see the world or how you live in it 💪
You Never Know What You’re Missing
Sometimes we spend our lives avoiding things out of fear, but when we finally experience them it leaves us exhilarated and wondering why we never did that thing before. My example? Skydiving 😅
I am not a fan of heights, so it goes without saying that I never thought I’d go skydiving. BBF had gone before when she was younger and kept asking me to go year after year. At one point I told her to ask me again when I turned 40—but she never did and I thought I was in the clear. But when she turned 40 it was her wish to go skydiving again—but I had to go with her 😬
So I did it. At the ripe old age of 42, I jumped out of a perfectly good airplane 😂
And you know what?! It was one of the most incredible experiences ever!
I had made up my mind long before that day that I would never do this very thing. But by being so rigid in my thinking I had almost missed out on a life-changing experience. It was only due to my overriding love for Erin that I could even summon the courage to do this, but it also taught me a powerful lesson in the process.
There’s No Time Better Than Right Now
Sometimes we put off decisions out of fear, sometimes we put them off for other reasons. In either case we often underestimate how impactful those choices can actually be, but as I shared with you previously in "Decisions, Decisions" a single choice can alter the course of your entire life.
This past weekend I met up with one of my former students, a real talented and intelligent young man who graduated high school a decade ago and is now teaching at my old school / his alma mater. And while he loves the actual time with his students in the classroom, he knows that staying in the career in an untenable choice. We spoke at length and commiserated over the state of my former profession, but in the end I told him what I am about to tell you, Nobody—we get one life, one shot, one chance to do our best and have a positive impact on ourselves and others.
Are the choices you making today going to get you to that life you know you are capable of leading? If not, what are you waiting for? It is only in the here and now that we can take action to change our lives for the better. What will you do to work toward your goals today? Feel free to comment below and have an awesome week, NIP! 😊
Namaste, Pax Vobiscum, and Much Love 🙏❤️🙇♂️
